CHERRY BLOSSOMS
Spring and the glassy
water of the circular
pond records the narcissistic
tale of the Tidal Basin.
Over the heads of the bicyclers,
tourists, birdwatchers,
each tiny bud is
tightly furled like the
mannered worlds of the
individual bourgeoisie.
Suddenly, each tree
opens, a pocketful
of small change.
