LANGSTON HUGHES TRIBUTE ISSUE

Gowri Koneswaran

REVERIE REVEALED
after "Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes

What happens to a reverie revealed?
Does it bloom
From first sprout
Or give way
To others’ doubts?
Does it tap dance metronomic beats
Or lie prostrate
In defeat?
Maybe it writes the blues
I hear you sing.
Or does it sail the sky
On a wing?
