THE WARTIME ISSUE

E. Ethelbert Miller

THOSE SEINFELD DAYS WHEN NOTHING HAPPENS EXCEPT I LOVE YOU
..........for WR

Even on bad days
you're the only good news.
I'm too old to be interested
in panda bears. I no longer
care which neighborhood
is safe. The weather is dark.
Sports always finds me trying
to rally from an affair. Then
there is you—my anchor in
this world. I wish lifeboats
were kisses. Maybe the next
time you cut your hair the war
will be over. Soldiers will return
home. I'll fight my heart and try
to love again.
